Forever Clear BBL™

How Does Acne Laser Treatment Work?

With the BBL modality by the Sciton Joule X Platform, bacteria in the epidermis (the skin’s outer layer) are targeted and eliminated through a process known as oxygenation. After the treatment is finished, the skin increases collagen production, which can lead to a firmer, smoother complexion as it continues to heal.

Who Would Be A Good Candidate For Acne Laser Treatment?

Teenagers and adults with moderate-to-severe acne are prime candidates for this procedure, especially for those who have tried traditional remedies like over-the-counter medications and exfoliation.

How Is Acne Laser Treatment Performed?

Acne treatment with the Forever Clear BBL™ modality is performed in a 30–90-minute session. During that time, three lights are used:

  • Blue light to target acne bacteria

  • Yellow light to reduce inflammatory acne and limit scars that may appear

  • Infra-red light to initiate your body’s natural healing process

No anesthesia is required for this treatment. Patients can also receive 3-4 annual acne treatments.

Common side effects of the acne laser treatment include redness and swelling of the target area for approximately 24 hours. Temporary skin darkening can also occur in some cases.

Patients receiving acne treatment with the BBL by Sciton can expect smoother, acne-free skin. These results are further amplified with multiple sessions per year.

As with most light and laser services, results can vary based on skin tones. Lighter skin tones traditionally see stronger results. Those with darker skin complexions are more likely to absorb too much light during the procedure, which may exacerbate side effects of laser treatment.
