Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, uses needles to create intentional trauma to your skin’s underlying tissue. This creates a wound-healing response that triggers collagen and elastin production.

Why is collagen important?

Collagen is the most abundant protein naturally present in animals. The structural protein is composed primarily of amino acids. It is found in connective tissues supporting the tendons, cartilage, bones, and skin tissues. Collagen performs a significant role in cell processing, including: cellular migration and communication; repair and maintenance of tissues; and improving cellular response. Collagen is an insoluble, fibrous protein network that provides structure and supports the body tissues, improving texture and elasticity.

What is Microneedling used for?

There are many benefits of microneedling to consider, but the most common are:

  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles

  • Diminishing acne scars

  • Shrinking pores

  • Lessening sun damage and hyperpigmentation

  • Reducing the appearance of stretch marks

Collagen is the common factor among many of these microneedling benefits. While your skin is healing, collagen is produced and rises to the surface of the skin. The accumulation of new collagen fills in fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and shrinks pores. In addition to collagen helping to improve the texture of your skin, it can also improve your skin’s radiance by minimizing the appearance of sun spots and stretch marks.

How many sessions of Microneedling is recommended?

Because microneedling uses the body’s repair systems to improve the skin’s appearance, results are not immediate. And while you may see some improvements following one session, most people need a series of three or four treatments to maximize their results. On the plus side, microneedling is minimally invasive and has little downtime.

SylfirmX: Radio Frequency Microneedling

SylfirmX® RF Microneedling is an FDA approved, minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that combines the benefits of microneedling and radio frequency technology to improve the appearance of the skin. During the procedure, tiny needles penetrate the skin to create microchannels, which help stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. RF energy is then delivered into the skin through the microchannels to heat up the deeper layers of the skin and further stimulate collagen production. It can be used to treat skin concerns like wrinkles, scarring, melasma, stretch marks, dullness, and hyperpigmentation.

Traditional Microneedling

  • Traditional Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation therapy that is also called collagen induction therapy. This procedure stimulates the production of collagen and generates new skin tissue. This makes the skin smoother, firmer and improves the tone and texture.

Best results are seen when completing a series of 3 treatments that are spaced 4 weeks apart.

  • Traditional Microneedling can be performed on all types of skin and can be used to address a wide range of problems such as scarring, stretch marks, fine lines, wrinkles, large pore size, dullness, and hyperpigmentation.

  • Variable needle depth allows for versatility and therefore it can be used on almost any part of the body including the face, neck, arms, hands, legs, scalp, abdomen, buttocks, and back.

  • Treatments can be determined by our aesthetician based upon treatment goals and the current health of your skin. It is recommended for most patients to receive 1-3 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart. Our favorite way to package Microneedling is to alternate treatments with Hydrafacials every 4-6 weeks or so.

MesoGold Micro-Infusion

MesoGold™ is a patented, 24k gold-plated micro-injection device. Customizable serum blends are administered during treatment to target specific skin issues. The intended use of MesoGold™ is to inject low doses of potent serums into the skin, making it a micro-injection or micro-channeling device. The pure gold needles help reduce the risk of skin irritation and allergic reactions as it has a high biocompatibility with human skin. This ensures maximum comfort and effective delivery of the solution used.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) are two types of treatments used in medical aesthetics. PRP involves drawing a small amount of blood from the patient, spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the other components of the blood, and then injecting the platelet-rich plasma back into the patient's skin. The platelets contain growth factors that can help stimulate the production of collagen and improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and other skin imperfections. PRF is a similar treatment, but it uses a different part of the blood called fibrin, which is a protein that helps with blood clotting. PRF also contains a higher concentration of white blood cells and stem cells compared to PRP, which may enhance its regenerative properties. Both PRP and PRF are minimally invasive procedures that are used to rejuvenate and improve the overall appearance of the skin. They are often used in combination with other treatments such as microneedling, dermal fillers, and laser therapy to achieve optimal results. Read more about it here.
